Road Trip to Ouray and Telluride

On the Way to Ouray and Telluride
Picture Explanation Options
We are on the way to Ouray via a shortcut...Bah, ha ha - not really a short cut just a way to see some amazing scenery on a county road. Easiest 4x4 road in the San Juans!

The scenery was made more spectacular by the clouds. The colors really are more vibrant than this.

Shelf Road Starting out on a Shelf Road

I think those are snowslide routes

At the Pass Here I am at the Ophir Pass (Pronounced O-Fear!) at 11,789 feet!

Sasha at the Pass Sasha at the Ophir Pass - looking good!

Our Truck on a 4x4 Road Me and the truck on an "Easy" four wheel drive road! I was actually feeling the elevation at this height!

One Lane Road! Yeah, It is One Lane Road for a Reason! Just Look at that SLOPE!

Real Shelf Driving OK, this is the road that we will be going upon, as you can see, this is a shelf that they cut out to make the road. No guard-rails of any kind, amazing slope again, and very slippery and loose rocks. Are you ready?

You really need to enlarge this to understand the hugeness (if that is really a word!) We will be going on that road on the other side soon enough...

Here we go! Here we go, Sorry I had that map in front, but I was doing videos as well as taking pictures and just did not take that map away.

Another picture of the shelf

There is the ROAD! There is the ROAD! No Guard Rails! We checked, no one coming the opposite way. We are good for take off! Time to GO!

Ophir Town! Welcome to Ophir, where we got a nice glass of lemonade from some kids trying to help out a local bakery that burned down. They were not too far away from the next house picture we took.

Ski House This house was not much, but boy, the fence is something else!

PO Ophir CO The Post Office in Ophir, CO.

The Mountains look cold...

Medicine? Colorado got some interesting laws. I personally feel like if it was legal, we would no longer be in a recession, we'd be getting all those tax dollars. Considering that even George Washington grew hemp, seems strange that that can not be grown legally in the USA.

Ski Seat Boards for a Seat

For Bo!

Down to Earth Telluride!

Absolutely no one around in Mountain Village area. Telluride, lots, here, no one. And there were not very many shops either, which is probably why there are no people. I guess there are lots when there is snow.

Really nice sculptures around here in Mountain Village as well as in Telluride.

Gondola Nice way to travel, just take a Gondola....

Sasha and Gondola Sasha too with the Gondola

PINK! Pink Bike, Pink Shoes and great map of the ski area.

OK, that was on the first full day of our trip. Because I have so many unbelievably great photos, and I want you to see all, I am making a second, and possibly a third page of them all. So please go to August 2010 Part 2 page to see the rest of the pictures.
