August 2010 Part 2: Yankee Boy!

We have some amazing photos down below:

The Next Day Photographs
Picture Explanation Options
On the second day we decided to go to Yankee Boy Basin. We wanted to not drive as far and maybe get some hiking in as well. The road that we were taking was also rated Easy and this time we would see hikers, ATVers and Jeepers. I think we were the only 1 ton truck out there at the time.

On the Way to Yankee Boy On the Way!

This is the Road I asked Sasha to stay as close as possible to my side of the road as you can see why in the next picture.

Flowers at Edge Flowers at the Edge, I guess someone, or several people, went over the edge.

Again, the road, with a steep drop-off on the side.

Us with Good Views Us with great views and a little trail behind us.

What is this Plant? OK, what is this plant? I am 6 feet tall and so is it!

Sliding House No that is not your eyes, the house is tilted. And empty, but still standing.

Town of Sneffels and the mine that made the town. Lots of tailings here, I have to wonder, the streams look great, but there must be heavy metals in those tailings, does the water need to be cleaned up before you drink it?

Us & Tailings Looks like the place was blown out, please click on Enlarge to see this better.

Nice blue skies, the storm left.

Yankee Boy Basin! We started hiking up.

Twin Falls We took the trail to Twin Falls, the water was definitely running high, lots of water.

Us and Twin Falls Beautiful Falls - Sasha got real close to take some awesome shots:

The Twin Falls And we did not even get our feet wet!

We did other things in August, at the end of August as a matter of fact, so check out to see an Amazing Hike that we did. There are a few pictures; Sasha is becoming an expert on the Macro level - going in tight with the flowers. Anyway, beautiful shots taken.

August is full of pictures so please go to August 2010 Part 3 page to see more, this time of a hike and ride to Robertson's Pasture Trail.
