Laura and Sasha's Excellent Adventure - Winter in Prince
William, rest of year some place else!
Although I was writing in
July, I did not need to split it so extensively as I did in June, so
there is only two pages for July.
Update: I started writing
a bit more in June, as I have a new hobby plus Finally living up to
my promise of writing every day. So the June page started getting
really long. That being the case, I make up four pages of June, Week
1, Week 2, etc, so those pages are now up. I will probably do the
same for July and August, as the summer months tend to be filled
with fun and exciting things to do. So the navigation on the top and
side will be a little different.
A New Year and a new
resolution, to try to keep the website up and relevant as well as up
to date as possible.
I am still working at
Prince William Forest Park as a volunteer, now as a cabin camp host.
While this keeps us here at the park, it is a relatively easy job,
with not too much human interaction. Unfortunately, I like human
interaction, and I really am not getting very much of that here. So
I should be working more on the website - but last year did not.
Therefore - the resolution to work on it more.
I also re-applied
to Google's AdSense, to put in ads through Google, as I am a
little worried about Yahoo, especially after Microsoft made
a aggressive bid for Yahoo. If Microsoft ultimately gets
Yahoo - who is to say that Yahoo will be around much longer?
And therefore the ads and the ad money will go away.
At least, that is my take on it.
But with Google, there are
more rules; you can not have similar ads on the same page - so you
will not see Yahoo ads on the same page as Google ads, which is
good, I guess. I don't really want to put too many ads on the
website at all, but a few, so that there may be some revenue, at
least to pay for the hosting. I still plan on having the Amazon ads
on the right side - so you can see the books that we are reading,
but I have taken off the Bookstore and Amazon store, as I really do
not buy that much from Amazon anyway, except for books, and why
should I ask others to spend when I am not? So off they go.
Each month will
have some posts in it - what we did that day or that week -
who came to the cabin camps and what we did during the week.
January will be the exception, as I am writing this in
February, I guess my resolutions did not start in January.
But this is a new year, with new things going on, especially
as I closed up the Sales Through Technology business back in
Fall 2007.
I will have the quarterly expenses up again, in
April 2008, so that you all can see what a full quarter of
full-timing in a cabin would cost. Sasha is working in
Sterling every day, so with gas prices going up, that will be our
biggest expense, I believe, either before or after food.
And since we took a major vacation and
bought a bike for Sasha, March
will be one of our most expensive months yet.
You can also check out Sasha's Trip that he
took in March.
