Again, we woke to fog and Sasha was like, I guess
I won't take a ride and went back to sleep. We got up around 8 am and
cleaned up the campsite and Sasha then stated that he would like to go,
so I said sure, go for it. I cleaned up the campsite and got
everything that I could ready for the trip to Grand Junction. We had
decided to go back there as the weather is always good and there are
always neat things to do out there. He got back and here are the
pictures:

This is where he wanted to go so bad.
And this is why I did not want to go!
There is no way that we would take the SuperDuty up this pass.
It is made for 4X4 Jeeps, ATVs or motorcycles, not large width
trucks.
Hello! Another reason why I did not feel
it was necessary that I went, especially without knowing how to
really ride the bike. |
 |
He took this picture of himself, not bad
I'd say! |

 |
And this is where he went. |
|
We finished up at the campground and got out
of there around 2 pm. We thought we could get a bite to eat at
the restaurant there, but they closed at 2pm. So we just missed
it. We got some snacks at the store instead and headed into
Gunnison. We had a bite to eat in Gunnison, lunch dinner and
checked email and uploaded the pictures for
Taylor Reservoir and
Crested
Butte. That took a long time, but we had a good meal and
were happy to be getting on the road.
The next pictures are from Gunnison to
Cimarron Park (in Curecanti National Recreation Area.) We
decided that we wanted to find a place to camp before the sun
went down and Cimarron Park was just what we needed, AND it was
relatively cheap. |

Blue Mesa Reservoir - HUGE is all I can
say. I think it is the largest reservoir in Colorado. Some of
these pictures look like you are somewhere beside Colorado, as
the water body is so large. Never saw a reservoir this big.
It looked like a small river or creek at
first and then became something more.
Some of these pictures were taken out of
the window shield while others were taken out of Sasha's
driver's side window. Sasha was driving and we kept his window
open and I would take the picture, making sure his nose or other
body part was not in the picture. |

Waters below the Dam |

|
The Dam and Us |
 |
Looking the other way, the dam is in
front of Sasha. |
 |
Cimarron River (yes that is considered a
river) as it flows into the waters from the dam. The waters of
the dam are much colder than the water from the river, so the
silt is not mixing as easily. As you get further away from the
dam, the waters start to mix. |

Beautiful Water and Dam |
Stayed at Cimarron Park (in Curecanti National
Recreation Area) that evening and in the morning went to see the Morrow
Point Dam. The pictures will be in later today. We came from Taylor Lake
area, see
Taylor Reservoir and
Crested Butte pages and I will have a
page for Heading West to Grand Junction area. This year we will be doing
some boondocking - having the rig out in the wilderness without any
hook-ups: no water, sewer, or electric, nor internet access and we will
see if we have cell service. I am kind of disappointed in Cingular, here
we are on Route 50 and we do not have cell service.
We are now headed to Grand Junction area, I have
to go online to work on my clients' websites and Sasha needs to do our
laundry. This will be the first time in many years that he has done it
so hopefully our clothes will get clean and keep their colors. We first
have to go to Delta to see about my motorcycle and if it can get fixed,
then head over to Grand Junction and Fruita. We are hoping to stay in
the same campground that we stayed in last year. The bathrooms are to
die for and they are very close to the Monument.
Check out the Next Day, Cimarron to
Fruita.
