A descriptive look at traveling and full-timing with our second RV, a fifth wheel toyhauler.
Laura and Sasha started this adventure in April of 2005
for a two week vacation in a truck camper.
May 2010: At Canyonlands National Park - Sasha at Chesler Park
So both of us were doing some cool stuff, Sasha hiking as much as possible, and I too went to some fascinating places. This time Sasha went for a hike while I was working. He was actually volunteering, so nice to be able to hike and talk to people too.

May Chesler Park. Sasha hiking the trails! This happened on May 19th. Look at that sky! So blue. And it was not yet hot! |

| I think of these formations as sandcastles in the sky. The way Sasha took the pictures, you would think so too! |

So while Sasha was out hiking this day, I was getting ready for my program that evening. I had ~ 65 people to my Night program on May 18th...of course it included a school group of about 40 - 25 very polite kids with 15 adults, plus the rest of the campground. But still, that is pretty large for a Canyonlands night talk. I usually average ~ 20. Got some great ooohs and aaahs to make me feel good about the program...AND the stars finally showed themselves at the end! All in all a good night! I finally had a night where the stars came out at the last bit of the showing. It was excellent, probably could see at least 1700 stars!
Sasha also went on a hike on May 16th, on the Peek-a-boo trail. Although he did not go all the way, a six mile hike around here is pretty good. From Sasha: Trail lengths here are not necessarily relative to difficulty. The 6 miler from today was tougher than some 8.5 loops. To answer your question though, hiking has been great, lots of wildflowers out, not many bugs, mostly sunny days, though we had a few cold ones as well. Last week was my best, I did 17 miles in 2 consecutive days. Had to rest my knees after that. I worry a bit about my right one.....
So we had a bit of time to rest before we took more pictures. As you can see, Sasha had been doing some serious hikes and I was learning more geology for Canyonlands and Arches, as I took some training again. I went up to ISky and Arches. I was also working on an online class called Interpretative Talk. I was working hard and playing a few games in the spare time. I just love those online games. What can I say, I am a geek I guess.
Anyway, by the end of the month we were back out again, Sasha was checking out the Jeeps on Elephant Hill. Again, hard to tell with the pictures but this is a pretty hard hill for most jeepers to do. You have to be REALLY skilled at it or at least not care that your jeep might get ruined or roll over. When I got trained on this road, I closed my eyes for part of it. The person driving was fine, I was just a wuss.
