 Road Trip
Idaho - Craters of the Moon, Wineries, Oregon & Washington & Idaho

Idaho 2009

October 26th, Monday - Into Idaho -I am just putting in the pictures, will give explanations later, as we are on the bandwidth of a library (October 29th) rather than our own. Thanks for understanding.

Into Idaho we will go, but first I think this is Great Salt Lake.

We decided to go a different way, thankfully were able to get off the highway for a bit.
You can see we are off the highway now, trying to get away from the storm that is going to hit soon, although the weather is a ways off. But the temperature is cold.
EBR - 1 = Something nuclear.
INL - Idaho National Laboratory - Something Nuclear is going on here!
And Now it can all be explained!
They have Lost Rivers - most of them were dry too.

October 27th, Tuesday - Craters of the Moon

NO One else was here, it was great to check out this national park by ourselves. It was very clean, no garbage at all on the roads, looked newly paved. We also did not see a single ranger around. The person at the front desk was with the cooperative association. The campground was small and I doubt our new rig would have worked in those spots. Heck, even the truck camper and trailer would have been tough.

Loved all the signage. They really spent money on these and they turned out well. We certainly read them.

LOOK at this trail map and signage - how cool is this? You might want to click on the picture to really see it, you can see elevation change and lots of other stuff as well. I thought it was pretty cool for a trail map.

Was trying to get this picture with Sasha, trying to take with flash, holding the camera up in the sky to get the flash to work, then bring it down to take the picture. It took me five tries, while it took Sasha only one (see pic above.)

October 28th, Wednesday, Wineries and Boise. bouncy roads and panhandlers. The roads were definitely more bouncy than they have been in a while and it was really hard to focus on the computer. I was actually getting motion sickness from trying to look at the computer while it is in motion. Normally I have no problem whatsoever, but that day was just a little tough.

Just so you can understand too, you have seen the set-up, it has not changed really, except for the Verizon card in the side USB slot.  Well, I wear prescription sunglasses which is not a problem, but when the sun is coming in strong, it is sort of hard to see the screen. So I squint or have to take off the sunglasses. My resolution on the computer is also a little different, while doing the website, it is a great resolution for me to work, but some websites, the fonts are a little smaller. Yeah Yeah, do not say it is age - I am not going to go that route. So I have to resize some websites so I do not have to squint. Ultimately it will all work out.

Winery

St Chapelle Winery, Idaho. We got ourselves a bottle. The wines were good but not great. Some of the Loudoun County wineries could put circles around these guys but the setting was awesome.

I guess if we had gone to a place that was more for vodka (with potatoes) it would make more sense in Idaho. But amazingly, Idahoans do not seem to eat a lot of potatoes, we just think they do.

Some very nice gentlemen took our picture both with the rig and the winery in the background.

October 29th, Thursday: At the library where I uploaded all of these pictures.

Watched Bones the series and played a few games.

October 30th Friday:  Happy Birthday to Amy Metroka! We are back in Idaho, we will stay at a Walmart in Spokane only a little ways from Norm's home. We took our time and checked out the area a bit:

Idaho Sky
I just love looking at the sky here, the clouds look different and the sky is so blue. Lots of people love the ocean and the expanse of horizon at the beach, but I love the endless road and the sky. Can't explain it but it just IS.
Keystone RV Company (there was a sign saying they are hiring after firing so many before....)
I know, this is fuzzy, but it states Umatilla River, big river out here.

Bridge
Dam

Into Washington Yet again, I really have to take a screen shot to show you Idaho and Washington and how we kept going back and forth between each of them.
Going to Spokane, Washington
Stopped here for some awesome chocolates. We might have gotten something else, but the chocolates were made onsite. Really good.
Really good apple from Williamson, at least Sasha thinks so!
Last Sunset for SnowRiver Truck Camper. Beautiful Sky.

October 31st, Saturday - Happy Halloween Everyone! Finally meeting Norm and check out our new rig!

Check out Norm and Lou's page, we stayed with them for over a week, makes sense for them to have their own page!
