Laura-n-Sasha 3.2

A descriptive look at traveling and full-timing with our second RV, a fifth wheel toyhauler.
Laura and Sasha started this adventure in April of 2005
for a two week vacation in a truck camper.

March 2011: At Lake Mead National Recreation Area

So as you can tell, this month's page has changed quite a bit. I am using the Facebook information to figure out what we were doing this month. I will have to also check what Sasha had written as well to fill in the blanks. We might even get some pictures in here soon.

March 4th: I will be doing a Night Sky program this evening in Lake Mead's main campground. We should have very clear and dark skies. Please look up at your night sky between 7-8:30 your time, and we will check out the stars together. Had a few people at my program this evening. We had a viewing magnitude of 4-5, beautiful clear night and saw some really good stars!

March 6th, Truck upgrade will explain more soon.

March 10th: My Dad's Birthday: We have left Lake Mead NRA, and are now headed back to Canyonlands NP, Needles District. Loved it so much last year, that we needed to go back again.

I did not take a picture of leaving Nevada, but of entering Arizona. Actually it was a pretty good shot considering it was taken from the front window of our truck while it was moving. Thankfully, Sasha was driving!

Map Virgin River, so the next one should be the river. It was interesting during this trip, I took lots of pictures of the rivers as we were going over them.

Map Oops, did not get that picture, but instead we were going in an area of high winds, never good for a RV!

Finally I get a shot of the river here. The other pictures were fuzzy as they were taken out of the window. I must say, I do like our digital camera, I can take tons of pictures and some of them will actually be good!

Finally you also can see where we were taking these shots, Virgin River Canyon Recreation Area...Beautiful!

Map Almost back to Canyonlands NP, that is the Colorado River!

March 12: Will be offline for a couple of days, we are headed to no internet country for a while - Only until Monday! OK, this REALLY Is the last time - we are in Moab, UT, and are going down to the Needles District of Canyonlands. Absolutely beautiful here, with the sun shining, 70 degrees. Town is looking a little dead, I guess it is still too early for the crowds.

..

..

March 14th: We are now at Canyonlands National Park, Needles District and back on internet!

March 15th: Sasha in bed with cold, me go to a potluck with one of Sasha's best dishes: Pasta Salad.

March 19th: Supermoon it is not, but still, I would suggest getting out to see it.

March 20th: It is amazing, everyone else saw a fabulous moon, but here in Canyonlands, total thick cloud cover. I just don't understand this weather. Well, the moon was only 2% closer than normal. However, as it was close to the spring equinox, it would have had some major beauty to it as well. Unfortunately for us, tonight will also be cloudy :(

March 23rd: Tonight I will be doing my program for the first time in Canyonlands, Needles District this season. We will also be part of the GLOBE at Night, a world-wide counting of stars in the constellation Leo. Come out and count with me, wherever you are!

March 25th: We are going into Moab to get a small space heater - there are only so many blankets that you can put on a bed. We had hoped to wait it out until we really needed to go into town, but being cold at night is not so good.

Working on my program of the night sky, learning even more information.

March 30th: Finally got some pictures of our site, and Sasha was playing with some software to get some other pictures as well. He can be quite the creative genius when he wants to be...

Just look at that blue sky!

Map So this is our own, very special place that no one else has. I would suggest for those that come here, that you have a Class A rather than a fifth wheel. It can be very hard to get it in place!

Map Good shot of RV, truck and Sasha's motorcycle, I was at work.

And then there is the picture that explains where we live in more understandable terms:

Canyonlands National Park Utah

This is not a clickable picture, just a way for everyone to understand how remote we are. You can see the very top of our rig. Sasha took this picture when he went to Wooden Shoe Arch which you will see in April. But when you are looking at this picture, doesn't it seem as though this is a painting, that maybe this does not seem quite real? That is how it sometimes is around here, almost not quite real.
