We were having so much fun, we did not want the trip to end. We
stayed out until the very last day October 15th. Next day was a work
day!

Waterway in Virginia |

True Lunch Spot in Virginia -
even though it was raining slightly, this town was pretty neat,
and we drove into the town first, got some Hardy's for Lunch and
then stopped here to eat it. Much better than eating at Hardy's.
There was a strange building that looked like a tea kettle, but
I could not get it in time. |
 |
The beautiful countryside of
Virginia. Again it was raining but with such beauty, it does not
matter. |
 |
We decided to check out
George Washington National Forest, looking to see if we could
find a place for the night and to check out ATVing spots. |
 |
This was our spot at Edinburg
Gap. We took several ATV rides here, but the riding here is
different, there are WAY more rocks than any other place that we
have ever been before. |
 |
As you can see, I was taking
my little Donkey through a creek crossing. The water was quite
high but it was fun! And the fall colors are really showing
here. Again, this is Edinburg Gap. |
 |
We went by a pond, and so
again, with the fall colors, we had to take this shot. |
 |
This is the rocky trail that
we went down. We did this on our anniversary - our 9th. A great
way to spend it, I think. The road is very rocky, so you can not
always go fast. |
 |
We had taken the morning ride
with the ATVs then we had to get to Breaux Winery for an event
with Dulles Area Association of Realtors. As I am the
Chairperson for the Affiliate Committee, I had to be there (it
was also the last event that the Affiliate Committee was going
to do) so we had to leave Edinburg Gap. Again, we are looking at
the beautiful Virginia countryside and I took a picture of this
farm. |
 |
Although it is a little dark,
you can see how fast the river is moving. |

Here is a better picture of
the Shenandoah River |
 |
It is amazing, but we have
only seen the wildflowers in the middle of the highway in
Virginia. I do not remember seeing them anywhere out west. We
had stayed at Clarke Gap after the winery event and we then
decided we did not want our trip to end so we headed out to
Green Ridge State Forest in Maryland. |
 |
This is the spot that we got
at Green Ridge. It was a little difficult to get to, as the road
was very rocky and we were a little nervous with the camper and
trailer, but we did it. And there is a lot of space so that we
can maneuver properly. We also will be able to have a camp fire.
We decided to stay for two nights. So we got here on October
13th (Friday the 13th) and I'd say we were very lucky. They were
out of spots that would have been good for us, as this spot was
the place that they had a firewood sale a few weeks ago. But it
worked out well for us. |

Some of the views on the
trail. You can see the river in the background. |

Here is the fall foliage from
our front door. |

Obviously, they need to do
something about the parking at Green Ridge. I think that any
time that we go there, we should have a few more people there
with us, as it only costs $10 per night AND you can have up to 6
vehicles on the camp site. And each one of the campsites are
pretty big. Maybe they need to have more campsites with
accessibility to the ATV trails without having to bring the
trailer. Some of these folks were camping not at the ATV area
but further away, and they had to bring the trailer instead of
using the ATV equipment. I think that is a shame, but it is
Maryland - an area that has many regulations. |
 |
Here is Sasha on the Green
Ridge Trail (this trail is an 18 mile loop on the ridge) and it
has several different types of terrain. Part of the trail goes
under the High Wires. |

This is the road to our camp,
a little hard to see, but the road is rough. |
 |
Our trip has ended, this is
the road home. Stay tuned to more pictures and videos of other
areas that we will be checking out in the next couple of months.
Thanks for looking. |
